The Consistory is the leadership board of the church. It consists of The Minister, who serves as the president of the board and leads its proceedings; The Elders who are ultimately responsible for the spiritual needs of the church to include the sacraments of communion and baptism, the preaching of the Word, and spiritual discipline should someone become delinquent in faith; and The Deacons, who oversee the physical needs of the church to include the property and the finances.
The consistory as a whole oversees the operations of the church as well as developing the vision and direction of the ministries of Harlingen Church to Montgomery, Hillsborough and whereelse God is leading.
To serve on the consistory, one must first become a member of the congregation, serve actively within the congregation for at least one year after becoming a member, and then be elected via nomination and congregational vote. It sounds intimidating, but it really is not. If you would like to know more about becoming a member and growing into leadership, contact the pastor.
